Christmas Pop Out Frame or Tunnel Card Project Sheet

It's been quite a while since I posted on this blog, but being back here is like sitting down with an old friend -- we just pick up where we left off.

Today, I want to share a card tutorial with you, if you don't mind. I write these for every card we do in my Stampin' Up! workshops, and it seems a waste to share them with only a small number of people. I also feel like I've gotten tremendous support and inspiration from the Stampin' Up! community, so posting a tutorial is one way of giving back.

I hope you enjoy making this card. It's much easier than it looks, and, as with all technique cards, you can adapt this in dozens of ways to suit the occasion you're celebrating. You can also, of course, change the shape of the aperture inside the card -- you could use the Sunburst framelits, or a circle, or any of the labels that Stampin' Up! has to choose from.

I didn't create the technique, but these measurements and dimensions are what I came up with on my own, as is the design of the card. Feel free to CASE it, but please don't sell it without changing it and making it your own.

Supplies and tools:

Mossy Meadow card stock (2014-16 In Color Collection, p. 179)
Cherry Cobbler card stock (Regals Collection, p. 182)
Sahara Sand card stock (Neutrals Collection, p. 183)
Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack (Holiday, p. 7)
Classic Inkpad or Stampin’ Write Marker: Mossy Meadow (p. 179), Early Espresso (p. 183)
Stamp sets: Ornamental Pine (Holiday, p. 27)
Framelits: Labels Collection (p. 231)
Embossing folder: Zig Zag (p. 227)
Tools: Paper Snips (p. 215)

                  Whisper White card stock: 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scrap 1 ¼” x 4”
                  Mossy Meadow card stock: 5 ¼” x 8 ¼”, 4”x 5 ¼”
                  Cherry Cobbler card stock: scrap 1 ½” x 4”
                  Sahara Sand card stock: scrap
Trim the Tree DSP:  Two pieces 1 ¾” x 5”

1.     DO NOT SCORE the card base!!!!!
2.     Stamp the pine branch in the center of the larger piece of Whisper White card stock using markers to color stamp.
3.     NOW score the card base at 4 ¼”.
4.     Score the larger piece of Mossy Meadow at 4 1/8”.
5.     Flip to the other side of the Mossy Meadow and score each end at 2 1/16”.
6.     Center the framelit on the Mossy Meadow and cut using the Big Shot. Now you have your window.
7.     Adhere the two ends of the Mossy Meadow on the INSIDE of the card, leaving the center sections
un-adhered so they can pop out when the card is opened.
8.     Adhere DSP to inside end panels.
9.     Dry emboss the smaller piece of Mossy Meadow and adhere to front of card.
10.  Stamp the sentiment on the scrap of Whisper White in Mossy Meadow, then adhere to the Cherry Cobbler scrap. Adhere to front of card.

VOILA!  You’ve created another awesome Stampin’ Up! Card!
